Within minutes, Master Sculptor Bill GirarD can turn a lump of clay into a smile, a laugh, a tear. His realistic bronze and stoneware sculptures depict the story of life in the young and old - faces of people expressing the emotions of living. While his Cowboys and Indians, authentically dated in their attire, convey energy, his nudes, timeless in their beauty, flow with grace. Bill's abstracts pull form, texture and realism into thought provoking images. His award winning sculptures can currently be found in a dozen galleries across the nation, in Europe and Asia, and in homes and corporate offices around the world.
Feature articles telling about Bill and his work can be found in the following National Publications: "Southwest Art", July 1997,"Art Of The West", August 1995. Bill is also listed in "Who's Who In American Art" , current issues. Bill and Nancy have been in business since 1981. All prices quoted do not include shipping.
Bill creating a new piece
of sculpture in clay. The next step will be to make a mold of
the clay figure. That Mold will be filled with a very hard wax. The
wax positive will then have a ceramic mold made around it and inside the hollow
wax. The ceramic mold will be placed in a furnace and the wax burned out
(lost wax).
Then molten bronze metal is poured into the void left by the melted wax. After the metal cools the mold is broken off the bronze figure and the metal is finished . Then heat and acid is applied to the bronze achieve the colors Bill wants on the final sculpture. A walnut or marble base and name plate is attached and the piece is waxed and buffed.
